GRUPO ZARAGOZANO
DE PAPIROFLEXIA

Grupo Zaragozano de Papiroflexia (Origami Group of Zaragoza) was created in the 40's. Leaded and managed by Dr. Gálvez, it organized up to six international exhibitions, between the 60's and the 70's. The group maintained mailing contact with other Spanish, European, American and Asiatic authors.

In the 80's, gathering in the Café de Levante, the group starts to grow up with new generations of origami lovers who brought the origami to the daily life in Zaragoza and in the media. In this period, it becomes part of Asociación Española de Papiroflexia, recently created. In 1981, they organize in Zaragoza the first international origami convention. With the support of the Town Hall of Zaragoza, Grupo Zaragozano de Papiroflexia organizes five editions in a row of the International Paper Planes Contest. Grupo Zaragozano de Papiroflexia appears in TVE (Spanish TV channel).

The 90's supposed the formalization of the GZP identity in Spain and internationally. After the International Expo of Sevilla, where the Japanese pavilion showed to Spanish people a selected sample of the Akira Yoshizawa's work, he manifested his desires to travel to Zaragoza to know the new members of the crew.

With the change of century and millenium, GZP feels ready to new big challenges with the project of EMOZ in Zaragoza, an origami school and the first origami museum in Europe.
